The Missouri Writers Guild Contest is an annual contest with winners announced at the yearly conference. The divisions this year are: The President's Contest, Sponsors’ Contest, and Chapters’ Contest. Each contest has specific guidelines that must be followed, although there are some general guidelines for all entries:

1. Applicants may enter multiple categories but may not submit the same entry in more than one category.

2. Only one entry per category is allowed from each applicant.

3. All entries must be the original work of the applicant.

4. For record keeping purposes, a cover page AND a 3 x 5 card must accompany each entry, stating the category title and category number, entry's title, author's name, address, phone, and e-mail. Book entries should include the publisher's name and date of publication. Entries for short works should include the name and date of publication or performance.

5. Awards will be announced at the Annual Missouri Writers' Guild Awards Banquet at the Drury Lodge, Cape Girardeau, MO, April 4, 2009.

6. Names of contest winners, sponsors, and judges will be posted on the MWG web site in May 2009 and published in the MWG summer newsletter.7. Entry fees for the President’s and the Sponsors’ categories may be consolidated into one check, written to the Missouri Writers’ Guild. Entry fees in the Chapters’ categories should be sent to the individual chapter.

8. Entries not following these procedures will be disqualified.

9. ENTRY PERIOD FOR ALL THREE SECTIONS MUST BE POSTMARKED BETWEEN JANUARY 1, 2009 AND FEBRUARY 6, 2009. MWG is not responsible for entries returned for insufficient postage.
